food_pyramid_groups

The food we consume daily is explaned in the form of a pyramid. The pyramid gets skinner at the top showing the upper part food items should be consumed in less quantity. Grains and cereals make very large percentage of the fod items. Here we explain from the top portion of the pyramid.

Fats, Oils, and Sweets

Fats, oils and sweets are the soutce of high calories. This doesn't mean that we need to ban these items but should be consumed in less quantity. If we take these items in comination with other food items, they add to flavor and enhance the calorie intake which is otherwise a necessary thing. The thing is these food items should never be banned from one's food but intake should be cut down.

Proteins Dairy Products, Meat, Fish

Meat products are very high in fat content. One can trim fat from meat before cooking and eating. There are many low fat recipes where you can cut down on fat but still enjoy these food items. Many processed meats like hot dogs, sausage, pepperoni, bacon, ham and luncheon meats are high in fat and sodium. If you enjoy eating these meats, try having them less often and when you do, try eating them in smaller amounts. This group of foods supplies you with the super-important nutrient protein. So this is the perfect part of the pyramid for protein

Milk, Yogurt, Cheese group

This group is high up and dieters should take it in less quantity. We can choose low-fat or skim milk products, like low-fat yogurt, skim milk and low-fat cheeses to keep the fat in our diets down. It may be difficult to get enough calcium unless we include these foods in our diets. We can make sure we get the milk and calcium we need by making puddings and soups with milk.
